The 2019 Partnership Training and Education Centres Working Group Meeting (PTEC WG) was hosted by Public Affairs Regional Centre (PARC) and took place in Skopje, Republic of North Macedonia from 11 to 14 June.
The participants included representatives from 18 out of 33 PTECs (8 from NATO countries and 10 from Partner countries), together with representatives from:
- NATO HQ (International Staff and International Military Staff);
- Headquarters Supreme Allied Commander Transformation (HQ SACT);
- Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE);
- NATO School Oberammergau (NSO).
The aim of the PTEC WG was to prepare recommendations for the Commandants of the PTECs on tasks generated at the 19th annual PTEC Commandant’s Conference held early April 2019 in Brasov, Romania.
Deputy MOD of the Republic of North Macedonia, Mr Bekim Maksuti provided a keynote address. The two chairpersons engaged the PTEC Community on different topics aimed at providing a deeper awareness on NATO priorities and continuously connecting the PTECs with the NATO E&T framework and current activities in the area of cooperation with partners.
PARC introduced its centre and provided insights on its main contributions to NATO endeavours but also detailed multilateral coordination with other training institutions. A Colombian officer introduced the Colombian CIDES, recognized in March 2019 as the 33nd PTEC. Several updates have been delivered by NATO HQ, ACT Joint Force Development, SHAPE Partnerships Directorate, and NSO.
The PTEC confirmed the importance of this event and highlighted that it gave them an opportunity to share common issues and concerns, as well as find ways of how to better support NATO Education and Training. The community discussed future of PTEC events and ongoing improvements in the management and support provided by NATO bodies throughout direct engagement in events.
