JOB DESCRIPTION FOR POSSIBLE INTERNSHIP 2020

DIVISION: Strategic Plan & Policy

BRANCH/SECTION: Strategic Issues & Engagement Branch

DETAILS OF PROJECT:

Strategic Issues and Engagement (SIE) Branch is responsible for directing and coordinating the continued development of strategic issues ensuring close coordination with Strategic Policy and the subsequent promotion within the Alliance through the development and implementation of the Strategic Engagement Plan.

The intern will work under the direction of the Branch Head contributing to the strategic issues programme of work, providing support through content development and the production of formal staff documents.

The intern will also support the organization of conferences and events, including performing research tasks, summarising and comparing NATO documents, drafting agendas and briefs, prepare Power Point presentations, coordinating with subject matter experts outside of NATO as well as with other divisions and branches at ACT.

EXPECTED DELIVERABLE(S):

The intern is expected to fully participate in a multinational output focused team in the identification of potential strategic topics for consideration by SACT and in the delivery of innovative solutions which will form the basis for strategic documents and advice to senior NATO staff.

The intern is expected to fully collaborate and participate to the team’s work, including attending meetings within HQ SACT, producing briefs and presentation to support the work of the Branch, and performing other tasks as required.

Specific deliverables will depend on the type of proposals and initiatives’ being implemented at the time the position is filled.

TYPE OF BACKGROUND/EDUCATION PREFERRED:

Current or recent Post Graduate student in political science/international relations/law and diplomacy.
